almost 100% of the total populace is breathing harmful air, it is extremely perilous for heart and mind
Before World Health Day on 7 April, the World Health Organization (WHO) has done a shocking research. It states that 99% of the world's population is breathing dirty air. This means 797 crore people on earth are living in air pollution.
Research done on 117 countries
The WHO team monitored the air quality of more than 6,000 cities in 117 countries. Research results say that today more countries are keeping an eye on air quality than ever before. However, the entry of nitrogen dioxide and very small particles is happening in the body of the people living here. This problem is happening the most in low and middle income countries.
Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a poisonous gas. It comes out by burning fossil fuel (fossil fuel). That is, it usually comes out while driving, from power plants or agriculture. NO2 increases the risk of respiratory diseases like asthma. Due to this people keep coughing and sneezing all the time.
Which particulates of air are harmful?
Particulate matter (PM) present in the air is no less than a poison for the human lungs. WHO investigated PM10 and PM2.5 in this research. These are particles present in the air whose size is 10 micrometers or less and 2.5 micrometers or less. Due to these, premature death can also occur.
Particles of both groups are invented by burning fossil fuels, which is very dangerous for our health. Particulate matter can be generated by traffic, industrial manufacturing, power plants, agriculture or burning of waste.
PM2.5 is the cause of increasing deaths in the world
According to WHO – PM2.5 particles can enter your lungs and flow into your blood. This puts both the heart and the brain at risk. These can cause brain stroke and heart attack.
